Mabley Handler Interior Design was founded in the Hamptons when Jennifer Mabley, already an accomplished interior designer in New York City, was commissioned to design and decorate a house in the estate section of Southampton Village. The client had spent many summers visiting her grandparents at their home in Southampton, and yearned to return to her Southampton roots.

To capture the essence of the client’s childhood memories, the inspiration for the house was the classic traditional shingle-style that Southampton was so well known for. Ms. Mabley worked hand-in-hand with a local architect to ensure that the house, situated on one of the village’s most picturesque tree-lined streets, truly paid homage to Southampton homes of the past.

The success of this project and love of the area inspired Ms. Mabley and her husband, Austin Handler, to relocate to Water Mill full-time in 2002 and focus their interior design business on projects in the Hamptons. Over the last decade Mabley Handler has grown to become one of the leading design firms in the Hamptons, and Jennifer and Austin's Hamptons interior design work has been featured in numerous publications, including: Hamptons Cottages & Gardens, Hamptons Magazine, BEACH Magazine, Coastal Living, Luxe Interiors + Design, Ocean Home, Traditional Home, The New York Times, the Daily News, the New York Post, Newsday, and on NBC's LX.TV Open House NYC, News 12, and the Discovery Channel.

Jennifer Mabley, originally from Washington, D.C., has worked in the field of interior design for over 20 years. Her design projects range from high-end Manhattan apartments to estate homes and cottages in the Hamptons. She has previously designed her own furniture line, and has owned and operated furniture, fabric and drapery stores in New York City and Greenwich, Connecticut.

Austin Handler, born in London, England, was a graphic designer at a major New York City advertising agency when he met Ms. Mabley. Aside from his work in graphic design and photography, Mr. Handler always had an interest in architecture and interior design. Partnering with Ms. Mabley to form Mabley Handler Interior Design was a natural fit.
